Background of USS
LA Relationship
with LAMM
The Los Angeles Maritime Museum
houses a significant
collection of memorabilia and artifacts from USS Los Angeles
CA-135.
While the collection started in the 1970s, items continue to be donated
by shipmates that served on the LA. The museum has set up a
dedicated
USS Los Angeles CA-135 section, thanks in part to monetary donations by
the association and individual members. Some of the museum's USS
LA CA-135 items can be seen at: CA135
Memorials
Mar. 2002: Los Angeles
Maritime Museum website
adds a USS LA Collection
section.
Nov. 2001: Los Angeles
Maritime Museum received
a $1075 check from the USS LA CA-135 Association. This check,
along
with several individual contributions, allowed the museum to provide
display
improvements for USS LA memorabilia.
Sept. 2001: Shipmate Norm
Booth donates
his USS LA Memorabilia to LA Maritime Museum. Norm's donation
started
an effort to improve the display of USS LA items at the museum.
